William Charles Miller, 89, of Seymour, passed away on September 6, 2012 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
William was born on November 24, 1922 in Danville the son of Merle C. and Ione J. (Hockley) Miller. He married Alma Elizabeth Karr on November 26, 1944.
He is survived by his wife; Alma Elizabeth Miller, children; William C. Miller II, Karen Miller Myerscough, Jim Irwin Miller, and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister (Jean C. Neal).
Bill retired as Postmaster in Seymour. He also managed the Lumber Yard and Hardware Store, helped build the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, and was involved in the Illinois Quarter Horse Association Breeders Futuritys. Bill served on P.T Boats in the U.S. Navy assigned to Squadron 5 and he was a charter member of the Seymour American Legion Post #1256.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Dalene Kuebler officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Burnham Alumni Nurses Scholarship Fund or the Seymour Methodist Church.
