William T. Colvin, 89, of Monticello, passed away at 12:39 PM, Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Carle Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Grace Baptist Church of Mahomet. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday November 18, 2009 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
William was born February 1, 1920 in Campbellsville, KY the son of Turner and Mary Colvin. He married Roselee Roedell on March 28, 1964 in Monticello.
Surviving is his wife; Roselee, daughter; Rosemary Young, step-daughter; Donna Beeler, 4 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter, sisters; Evelyn Gatchel, Elizabeth Winder, and Betty Keith. He was preceded in death by his parents, son (William T. Colvin, Jr.) and 1 brother.
William delivered papers for Thrifty Nickel for 20 years, worked at Central Soy in Gibson City, and was a Union Plasterer for 25 years. William served in the U.S. Army during WW II where he was injured during combat. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Mahomet and the Mahomet American Legion.
