Waneta M. Bensyl, 83, of Monticello, died at 9:55 AM, December 9, 2010 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Smith from the United Methodist Church of Weldon officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.
Waneta was born August 23, 1927 in Cisco, IL the daughter of Virgil and Louise (Adams) Glenn. She married Donald Wade Bensyl on October 9, 1945 in Morganfield, KY. He died June 6, 2007.
Survivors include her stepson; John (Betty) Bensyl of Penfield, daughter-in-law; Janice Bensyl of Monticello, grandson; Rodney Bensyl of Bloomington and sister; Delta Chitwood of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son (Virgil Lee Bensyl), sister (Helen Nelson), and brother (Charles Glenn).
Waneta was a waitress at Country Charm Dairy at an early age and then was a secretary at the Pepsin Plant in Monticello for 30 plus years until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, boating, bird watching, animals, and was an avid Cubs fan.
Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home or Shriners' Crippled Children's Hospital.
