Walter Rayburn, Jr.

Walter Byron Rayburn Jr., 71, of Mahomet died at his home on the evening of Saturday, October 28, 2023.

In accordance with his wishes, Walter will be cremated. Friends may greet the family from 6-7 pm on Thursday, Nov 2 at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar, Mahomet. The memorial service will begin at 7pm with Rev. Seth Emerson officiating.

Walter was born on August 27, 1952 in Champaign to Walter Byron Rayburn and Mary Lorene Mahin Rayburn. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Maurice Rayburn; a niece, Stephanie Wilson and a brother-in-law, William Bunting.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Vince) D’Agostino of Wheaton; his son, Casey Rayburn of Hot Springs, CA; sisters, Eileene Bunting of Lombard, Annalee (Gary) Jellen of Mahomet and Martha (Spencer) Henderson of Pontiac; his brother, Dean Rayburn of Mesa, AZ; granddaughter, Gabriella D’Agostino and grandson, Alexander D’Agostino; along with several nieces and nephews.

Walter was a 1970 graduate of Mahomet High School. He was a gifted woodworker and created custom furniture at Willow Works. Walter was also a member of the Carpenters Union. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and walking. He also loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
