Vivian June Lockmiller, beloved wife, mother, sister, Meme, and great‑grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the remarkable age of 93. A woman of effortless class, kindness, and unwavering grace, she navigated life with a timeless sense of style and a generous heart.
June is survived by her children Julie Lockmiller, Joy (Kirk) Bott, and Marty (Sonya) Lockmiller; son-in-law, Mark Houser; her grandchildren Chris (Becky) Blythe, Amanda (Daniel) Hettinger, Doug (Bridget) Houser, Ellie (Jake) Maguire, Mary Houser, Laura (Tony) Eells, Amy (Jordan) Crabtree, Andy Bott, Stephanie (Jordan) Maman, Josh Lockmiller, Rachael Lockmiller, and Jared Lockmiller; and her great‑grandchildren Peyton Blythe, Tyler Blythe, Alexis Hettinger, Braden Hettinger, Kaelynn Hettinger, Grace Houser, Everly Maguire, Tommy Houser, Haven Maguire, Easton Eells, Carter Maman, Myles Maman, Vivian Crabtree, Lucy Houser, Evee June Lockmiller Buchanan, and Vera Maman. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy (Arnold) Sedivy and brother, Richard Arnold.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernell and Edith Arnold; her loving husband, Marvin; her daughter, Jill Houser; and her siblings Robert Arnold, and Virginia Burke.
Born on June 1, 1932, in Decatur, Illinois, June grew up with her four siblings, known to them as “Tootsie”, where life was filled with simple joys and close family ties that shaped the way she loved and lived. She worked as a secretary and later as a meticulous bookkeeper, proudly taking on the role of behind‑the‑scenes organizer for the many homes and apartments her husband built—keeping everything (and everyone) running smoothly.
June was a devoted wife and dear friend to her husband, Marvin, for 64 years. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and adventure. They traveled the world and spent many happy winters in Fort Myers, Florida—where sunshine, golf, family, friends, and laughter were always in abundance. June was always stylish—a true fashionista who believed a great outfit and a touch of sparkle could brighten any day. She never passed up a good shopping trip, whether it was finding the perfect addition to her closet or just the right finishing touch for her home. Her quick wit and sense of humor were as much a part of her as her signature style, making every moment spent with her feel a little more joyful.
Through it all, her greatest happiness, by far, was her family. June was the heart of her family—a true matriarch and a steady source of positivity, strength, and love. As “Meme,” she created a world full of fun, encouragement, and unconditional love. She had a special gift for making each grandchild feel seen, celebrated, and just a little bit spoiled.
June’s smile and positivity were contagious and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and caregivers. Her presence made everything better, and she will be forever remembered in all the moments she made brighter.
