Virginia West Obituary
Virginia Lee West 87 passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 25, 2026 at the Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello, IL.
Virginia was born on April 26, 1939 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri daughter of Marvin Calvin and Floy [Jackson] Kerr.
“Ginny” dedicated her life to her family and a lifelong career in the service industry. She will be remembered for her fun sense of humor and a passion for her hobby of art. She lost her memories to Alzheimer's, but she recognized her son, daughter-in-law and people that she loved, even as the disease progressed.
“Ginny” always enjoyed her visits from her “grand puppies” and often bartered to keep them until the next visit. She was preceded in death by her husband’s Charles Ray “Buddy” Cassout, Charles Luther “Chuck” Cowell, James Orville “Jim” West, brother Orville “Bud” Kerr and parents Marvin C & Floy J Kerr.
Virginia is survived by her son Duane R Cassout [Debbie] of Monticello, IL, five stepsons Steve West [Marcia] of Jefferson City Mo. , Randy West [Anita] of Streator, IL., Chuck Cowell, Michael Cowell [Karen], Rick Cowell and her cherished grandchildren Christopher Ray Cassout, David Lee Cassout, Stephanie West Hawthorne, Staci West Hoerschgen, Tony West, Tiffany West Park.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30th from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home located at 215 E Washington St. Monticello IL. 61856 followed by a 1:30 pm. graveside memorial service at Arthur Cemetery located at 900 E Park St. Arthur IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to your local Animal Shelter.
