Virginia R. Courson, 89, of Monticello, died at 9:38 AM, January 24, 2011 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Monticello Township Cemetery with Mackey-Wright Funeral Home handling the arrangements. No visitation.
Virginia was born November 18, 1921 in Monticello the daughter of Ross and Beatrice (Hubbard) Record. She married Millard Courson on February 2, 1946 in Bondville, IL. He died October 7, 1974.
Survivors include her son; Terry (Susan) Courson of Monticello, grandchildren; Angie Gifford, Travis (Amy) Courson, Amanda Courson all of Monticello, Mike, Steve, and Tammi Bannick all out of state, brother; Paul (Linda) Record of Monticello, sisters; Patty (Robert) Mackey of Anderson, SC and June Willis of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons (Edward and Scott Fortner), 6 brothers and 1 sister.
Virginia worked at several local grocery stores, Kaiser Department Store, and Allerton Park.
Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home.
