Tony "T Bone" Compton

Tony “T Bone” Compton, 75, of Champaign, passed away on July 31, 2025, at Carle Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on June 27, 1950, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Ruel and Ethel Compton. Tony grew up in Pesotum, Illinois, and graduated from Unity High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy Reserves and later worked as a truck driver, retiring from the Local 841 Operators Union.

Tony was a man of the outdoors—whether he was casting a line at his favorite fishing spot or relaxing at a campground, nature was where he felt most at home. He had a deep love for gardening and took great pride in growing vegetables to use in his famous homemade salsa. His joy for cooking was only matched by the joy he found in sharing it with others.

Tony had a special gift for making people feel welcome. With his warm, contagious smile and a heart full of kindness, he never met a stranger. He brought light and laughter to every room he entered.

Above all else, Tony was a devoted family man. He shared 45 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Janet, and was the proud and loving father of his daughter, Ashley. The bond between Tony and Ashley was unbreakable—a relationship rooted in love, respect, and endless laughter. He was her rock and her greatest supporter.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; his daughter, Ashley; his brother, Jimmy; his sisters, Nancy and Connie; and his dear Aunt Maxine. He is preceded in death by his brothers David, Stephen, and Kenneth.

A casual Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to gather and share stories, memories, and the love he gave so freely.
