Shirley Mae Oliger, 87, of Mahomet peacefully passed away at home on Wednesday (Feb. 1, 2023).
There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar St., Mahomet, with a graveside funeral service at 11:30 at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William and Olga Mattlin; husband, Charles “Chuck” Oliger; brothers Richard, Kenneth and William; and sisters, Ruth (Kimple) and Jean (Holloway).
She is survived by her brother Donald; three children, Chuck, Susan and Bill; and her only grandson, Joshua.
Shirley was a housewife the majority of her life only to enter the workforce at the age of 50 at the local CVS Pharmacy, where she worked 15 years, retiring upon her husband's passing.
Shirley was an avid Cubs and Illini fan. She will always be remembered for her smile, sassy and ornery personality, and her unwavering faith in the Lord, which she professed every Sunday at New Beginnings Lutheran Church of Mahomet, where she was a founding member.
