Shirley Mae Goodenough

Shirley Mae Goodenough,85, of Mahomet formerly of Tolono, passed away at Goldwater Care in Gibson City, IL on Sunday, August 18.

There will be a visitation on Sunday, Aug 25 from 2-4 pm at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar, Mahomet. The funeral service will be on Monday, Aug 26 at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery, Mahomet.

Shirley was born on October 4th, 1938 to Walter and Stella (nee Harter) Goodenough in Alton, IL. She was one of 5 children. Shirley went to High School in Delevan and once married moved to Champaign where she raised her children. Shirley retired from the University of Illinois as a Secretary. She then went on to work at her church, the Tolono United Methodist Church. 

Shirley enjoyed reading; she had a whole notebook of every book she has ever read. She loved gardening and watching the birds out in the yard. She loved her dogs- Camo and Suzie most recently. 

She is survived by her sister Sandra (Ellis) Corso of Bloomington, IL; Diane (Charles (Steve)) Morris of Saybrook, IL. Shirley is also survived by all of her children and granchildren. George (Denise) Morris Jr of Flossmoor; Brian Morris of Mahomet; John (Nancy) Morris of Champaign; and Anna Morris of Mahomet. 8 Grandchildren: Kevin (Amy Hayes) Morris; Michelle (Tim) Chavez; Matthew Morris; Ashley Ester; Veronica (Nader) Ammar; Jackie (Brian Plotner) Ester; Chris (Suzie) Morris; and Madeline Morris; and 1 great grandchild.

Shirley is preceded in death by her mother and father; brother John Goodenough Sr; sister Patricia Hutchinson.
