Shirley Louise Goddard passed away peacefully, at the age of 77, on May 24, 2025 at Carle Hospital.
She was born on January 18, 1948 in Champaign, IL to Helen and Joseph Stahl. She grew up in Champaign and spent her life there, attending Central High School and retiring from Hobbico in 2004.
Shirley married Donald Goddard on 7/2/1965 and was a devoted mother to their four children: Julie (Marty) Butts, BJ (Monica) Goddard, Donald (Lisa) Goddard, Jr. and Lori Goddard. Shirley was grandmother to 8: Chase (Veronica) Daugherty, Chelsy (Jason) Polite, Chad (Bobbi) Stenberg, Dustin (Courtney) Pittman, Drey Goddard, Gavin (Steph) Goddard, Griffin Goddard, and Jayden Hood. She was great-grandmother to 11: Conner Daugherty, Aaliyah and Jaya Polite, Brooks, Colt and Jack Daugherty, Michael Collins, SJ and Jamison Stenberg, and Maddie and Maijor Pittman. She was a loving sister to Barbara (Jack) Earl, Aunt to Jodi (Mark) Delia and Great Aunt to Marki and Lexi Delia.
Shirley was known for her dedication to her family; she loved cooking Sunday dinners and making the most delicious food from scratch for all occasions. She loved horse racing, bingo and a good time, as long as she could be home by dark. She frequented bleachers and sidelines; she never wanted to miss anything her grandkids were involved in. Grandma Buddy always had dollar bills in her purse for the concession stand, and was garage sale aficionado, finding everything her grandkids were into and spoiling them rotten.
Her family will forever remember her for her unwavering support; in the hardest of times, Shirley was always the toughest.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Don, nephew Scott and granddaughter Laci Jo.
Shirley’s life will be celebrated on June 29th at 11am, at the Mahomet Sportsmen's Club Community Building at 705 Hickory St Mahomet.
