Ruth Babb

Ruth M. Babb, 87, passed away peacefully at Newman Rehabilitation on March 19, 2025.  There will be a graveside funeral service at 11:00am on March 25 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.  

Ruth was born at home in rural Champaign County on May 21, 1937, a daughter of George and Grace (Berns) Bosch.  She married James M. Babb on October 7, 1959 in Covington, IN.

Survivors include: her sister, Nellie Mullins of Mahomet; grandson, Kyle (Allison) Duckworth of Danville and three great-grandchildren.  

She is preceded in death be her husband, Jim; son, Jerry Duckworth; three sisters, Marge, Maxine and Rose; two brothers, Tom and George.  

Ruth was a lover of many things, including Boston Terriers, gardening, yardwork and nurturing her flowerbeds.  Above all, she loved spending time with her family at the cabin or campground and hosting cookouts and fish frys.  

Ruth dedicated over 50 years of her life to her career at Hobbico, while also working as a beautician until her husband, Jim became terminally ill.
