Russell Smith, 90 of Naperville Illinois, passed away at 12:50 A.M. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello. Funeral service will be Sunday, March 23, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove in Downers Grove Illinois, at 1032 Maple Ave. With the Rev. Jonathan Dean officiating. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 Sunday, March 23, 2009 with the service following. Inurnment at a later date. Russell was born December 24, 1918 in Cape Breton Co. Provence of Nova Scotia the son of James and Helen Smith. He married Eunice Jean Hicks January 21, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. Surviving is his children: Janice Redman of Monticello, David Smith of Aurora, Jean Jacob of Bloomington, Joan Williamson of Naperville, Barbara Kudia of Naperville, and Linda Sandmann of Bolingbrook, along with 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Russell was a retired Accountant Controller. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 1 brother (Horace) and 1 son-in-law (Mack Williamson). He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove, and the SPEBQSA. Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home or the Multiple Sclerosis Society
