Russell Howland Obituary

Russell D. Howland, 79, of Monticello, passed away at 2:30 AM, Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Piatt County Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.
Russell was born November 17, 1930 in Urbana, the son of Lewis and Ada (Perkins) Howland. He married Alma Curtis on May 21, 1955 in Farmer City.
Surviving are his wife; Alma Howland of Monticello, sons; Robert Lynn (Karin) Howland of Pekin, Richard Lee (Barbara) Howland of White Heath and Russell Dale (Melissa) Howland, Jr. of Eagan, MN., grandchildren; Nichole (Troy) Louis, Nathan Howland, Justin Howland, Sean Howland, Russell Dale Howland III, Allison Howland, Kristen Howland, and Shannah Howland, great grandchild; Canaan Louis, and brother; Raymond (Yvonne) Howland of Bement. Russell was preceded in death by his parents.
Russell was a retired farmer and also retired from General Cable after 38 years. Russell served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher for 50 years at the first service. He served on the Board of Directors and was Past President of Monticello Grain.
Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home or Kirby Hospital.
