Rudolph Bus Mark Nichols, Jr., 84 of Seymour, passed away at 6:50 PM, Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at his residence.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello with Rev. Dalene Kuebler officiating and Military Rites. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home.
Bus was born July 1, 1924 in Bondville the son of Rudolph Mark and Mae (Blank) Nichols, Sr.. He married Bessie Bess Phillips on May 29, 1952 in Champaign.
Surviving is his wife: Bess Nichols of Seymour, children: Penny (Billy) Miller of Wapella, Mark (Jody) Nichols of Wonder Lake, and Craig Nichols of Seymour, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Bus was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers (Royal, Robert and John Nichols) and 1 sister (Vernie Cook).
Bus was a retired laborer. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Yeoman 2nd Class SV6 during WW II. He was a charter member and life member of the Seymour American Legion Post #1256, life member of the VFW Post #6750 in Rantoul, former Scott Township Road Commissioner, the Seymour Methodist Church, the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, little league coach, and past President of the Seymour grade school PTA.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Seymour Methodist Church.
