Roy E. Caldwell, 74, formerly of Monticello, passed away May 15, 2010 in Century, FL while living with his granddaughter April Jerreld.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Bement Township Cemetery. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello is handling the arrangements.
Roy was born June 13, 1935 in Maroa, IL, the son of Frank and Zelma (Tolby) Caldwell. He married Dorothy K. Gosney on January 10, 1960 in Decatur. She passed away April 21, 2008.
Surviving are his children: Karen St. John of Mattoon, Ruth Albin of Decatur, Janice Collins of Herrick, Rebecca Markell of Danville, and Sandra Burton of Weldon, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, sister: Joan Wemple of Pana. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 son (Mark Caldwell) 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Roy was a carpenter and handyman. Roy served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne and was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Monticello.
