Roy Bray Obituary
Roy C. Bray, 65, of Monticello, passed away at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until noon, Saturday at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Croninger Cemetery, Cisco.
Roy was born March 16, 1946 in Somerset, KY, the son of John and Alma (Burton) Bray. He married Marlene Melton on January 4, 1995 in Monticello.
Roy is survived by his wife; Marlene Bray of Monticello, children; Teri Bankhead of Portland, OR, Amy Barbee of Decatur, Nancy Miles of Denver, CO, and Roy Bray, Jr. of Decatur, step-children; Eric Bettinger of Lovington, Yvonne McClure of Newport News, VA, Aaron Bettinger of Bement, and Justin Bettinger of Cerro Gordo, 9 grandchildren and 12 step-grandchildren, brothers; Don Bray of Decatur and Bruce Bray of Florida, and sister; Sue Smith of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 brother.
Roy was retired from Caterpiller in Decatur and worked at the Monticello True Value. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed gardening and his flowers.
Memorials may be made to the Decatur Memorial Hospital Cancer Research Center.
