Rowena June Sago, 100, of Tatman Retirement Home, Monticello, formerly of Cisco, passed away at 12:51 a.m. on March 8, 2012 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Cisco United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Beedy officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Interment will be held in Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta.
June was born June 22, 1911 in Argenta, IL the daughter of Conrad and Emma (Heinz) Hiser. She married Orville K. Sago on December 4, 1930 in Argenta. He passed away December 24, 1990.
June is survived by her son, William (Marilyn) Sago of Cisco; daughters, Doris (John) Hulett of Normal and Janet (Joe) Felts of Rome, GA., 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren; sister, Eileen Clarkson of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews. June was preceded by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 son, and 1 grandchild.
June was a cook at the Cisco Grade School and worked at the 4-H Memorial Camp, Monticello. She was a member of the Cisco United Methodist Church, United Methodist Womens, Clinton OES, Past Worthy Matron of the Cisco OES, and the Piatt County Home Extension. She enjoyed quilting for the American Legion, playing games, family gatherings, and birthday parties and proud of making the Smuckers List with Willard Scott in honor of her 100th birthday.
Memorials may be made to the Cisco United Methodist Church, Tatman Village, or Donors Choice.
