Rodney Butler

Rodney C. Butler, 64, of Champaign, died at his home on the evening of Friday, June 23, 2023. As per his wishes, there will be no service. 

Rodney was born on September 3, 1958 to William and Hazel (Pettit) Butler. 

He is survived by his wife, Pamm; 2 grandchildren, Amiyah and Drake Butler; 2 brothers, Keith (Bridgitte) Butler of Urbana and Maury Butler of Alton and a host of nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his 2 sons, Rodney Butler, Jr and TJ Butler and his sister, Jean Butler. 

Rodney graduated from Centennial High School, Class of 1976. After graduation he enlisted in the US Air Force and honorably served 4 years. Upon discharge, Rodney continued to serve his community as a Firefighter for the University of Illinois and later for the City of Urbana, earning retirement in 2012. 

Rodney belonged to the American Legion Post 559 and to the NCAAM. In his retirement years, Rodney enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked cooking for his family.
