Ricky L. Houser, 62, of Monticello, died at 12:59 p.m., December 28, 2011 at the Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.
Rick was born November 19, 1949 in Mattoon, the son of George L. and Beulah I. (Musson) Houser. He married Shirley L. McKee on February 14, 1993 in Urbana.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Houser of Monticello; daughters, Kimberly (Matt) Houser-Seten of Kansas City, MO, Natalie Houser of Milwaukie, OR, step-daughters; Shawna (Greg) Harvey-Storm of Villa Grove, Kimberly Ogden of Monticello, mother: Beulah Houser of Urbana, 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, brother; Roger (Amanda) Houser of Champaign, and nephew; Harold Houser of Monticello. He was preceded in death by his father and 1 brother (Jerry Houser).
Rick was retired and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in the Army Corp of Engineers. He was a member of the American Legion and the Champaign VFW# 5520. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family, and was very proud of his military service.
