Richard Greene Obituary
Richard Nelson Greene, 72 of Monticello, IL died at 1:05 p.m., Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in the John and Mary E. Kirby Hospital, Monticello.
Born December 19, 1934 in Rice Lake, WI, he was the son of George Pleasant and Bertha Nelson Greene. He was married to Julia Ann Stein in Mt. Carmel, IL on July 10, 1954.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 24 at Christ Lutheran Church, Old Rt. 47, Monticello with visitation from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 23 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello.
He is survived by his wife; son Bradley (Juli) Greene of Monticello; daughter Barbara (Scott) Carlson, rural Paxton and five grandchildren, Alex Greene, Bement; Cara Greene, at home and Adam, Aubrey and Shannon Carlson, at home. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Mary Beth.
Mr. Greene began his telephone career with Western Electric in 1953, retiring 42 years later as a Supervisor with AT&T. A charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Monticello, he was devoted to his family, friends, fishing and his Centennial Farm at Texico, IL.
Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, Kirby Hospital or the Monticello Area Education Foundation.
