Raymond Meece Obituary

Raymond E. Meece, 82, of Monticello, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012, at the Monticello Township Cemetery with CAPT. Robert Rubel, USN Retired officiating. Interment will be held in Monticello Township Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello is handling the arrangements.
Raymond was born on October 18, 1929 in Monticello, the son of Elmer J. and Anna (Willis) Meece. He married Helen Wittig on September 18, 1949 in Monticello, IL.
Raymond is survived by his wife; Helen Meece of Monticello, children; John (Linda) Meece of Jacksonville, IL, Ron (Cindy) Meece of Monticello, and Donna (Robert) Rubel of Tiverton, RI, 5 grandchildren; Matthew (Kelly) Rubel, Daniel (Ana) Rubel, Kyle (Kristle) Meece, Ryan (Ayla) Meece, and Shayla Meece, 2 step-grandchildren; Dr. Susan (Ron) Gatto and Derk (Julie) Taylor, 5 great grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren, brothers; Lynn Meece of Tucson, AZ, Wayne (Loretta) Meece of Normal, IL, sisters; Shirley (Dale) Turner of Monticello, Sandra (Dale) Harris of Morris, IL, sister-in-laws; Ellen Meece of Monticello and Dot Meece of Muncie, IN.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers (Robert, James, George, and Ralph Meece), and 1 sister (Mary Stone).
Raymond was a retired farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church and the Hamm-Burke American Legion Post #101 of Monticello.
Memorials may be made to the Hamm-Burke American Legion Post #101 or the American Diabetes Association.
