Patricia M. Kappes

Patricia Marie Meyers Kappes, 95, of Champaign, passed away Tuesday April 30, 2024 at Brookdale Memory Care Center in Urbana IL.

Patricia was born November 15, 1928 at Mercy Hospital in Urbana IL, the daughter of Glenn W. Meyers and Mary McCarty Meyers. She married Philip J. Kappes on September 10, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Urbana IL. Philip preceded her in death on October 31, 1991.

She is survived by one son, Richard (Casey) Kappes of Springfield IL, two daughters, Rosemary (Roger) Schwierjohn of Glendale, AZ and Sharon (Karl) Broadrick of Champaign, IL; as well as eight grandchildren (Marissa, Aimee, Lani, Erik, Sara, Kyle, Denni, Andy), seven great-grandchildren (Addison, Skyler, Lily, Landry, Jack, Kamden, Mia), and five step greatgrandchildren (Micaela, Aiden, Sydney, Rebecca, Tyler).

She is preceded in death by her husband Philip, parents, step-father, brother (Walter), sister-inlaw (Norma), and nephew (John).

Patricia attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Edison Jr High, and Champaign High School. She was employed in the business office at Shelby Motors before her marriage to Philip. She was the bookkeeper for Kappes Brothers Construction and her husband’s business.

Owens Funeral Home has been entrusted with Patricia’s final journey. Private family services will be held.

Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma - Your “I love you whole bunches” will forever be with all of us. Enjoy your fig newton, lemon cookie, sour cream n onion Pringles, and frozen Twinkie snacks with grandpa. We love you and miss you “Buzzy”.
