Bloomington Nola Irene Heitz died at 10:46 pm Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Asta Care Center, Bloomington where she was a resident. Burial will be in Monticello Township Cemetery, Monticello, IL. There will be a reception honoring her life, Saturday January 23, 2-4 pm at the Monticello United Methodist Church
Nola was born April 19, 1915 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Rev. George A. and Gladys May Brownlow. She married Richard Heitz in Milmine, IL on October 1, 1933 with her father officiating their ceremony. Her husband preceded her in death on November 10, 1981. She is survived by one son, Stan (Sharon) Heitz, Lexington, IL; five grandchildren, Angie (Chris) Reynolds, Laura (C. W.) Thomas, Lisa (Randy) Ehlers, Amy (Kevin) Witt, Gregg (Tamara) Heitz; 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandson.
Nola was a farm wife during her working years helping with every aspect of farming until she and her husband retired. She was active in her church and various community organizations. She was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Monticello United Methodist Church.
Nola was the epitome of unconditional Christian love and set that example for her family, friends and everyone she met. Her family offers special thanks to the Asta Care Center staff in Bloomington and the Passages Hospice Care staff.
