Nancy (Wilkinson) Costa

Nancy Wilkinson Costa, 69, passed away Monday, January 16,2023 in Winston Salem, NC. Nancy was born on October 8,1953 in Ford County, IL to the late Harry and Norma Brown Wilkinson. She married Lawrence Joseph Costa on October 16,1971 in Danville IL.Larry and Nancy’s enduring love story began in 1971 while they were in high school. They celebrated 51 years of marriage in 2022.

Nancy was very artistic and enjoyed painting, ceramics and scrapbooking. Larry and Nancy liked camping, motorcycling and other outdoor activities with their two children. A great dog lover, especially her Border Collies and Shelties, Nancy owned and trained many family dogs in her lifetime. Nancy passed her knowledge on to her granddaughter who also works with dogs.

Surviving are her husband, Larry Costa; two children, Dawn Michelle Hall (Joe Hall) of Missouri, and Lawrence Steven Costa (Claire) of South Hampton, England; seven grandchildren, Payton, Rhiannon, Ethan, Serenity, Haley, Caitlin, and Lewis; two great grandchildren, Kaiden and Tobias Costa; two sisters, Annie Loza, and Nila Jean Massengill; two brothers, Father Wayne Wilkinson, and Roger Wilkinson; brother in law Michael Costa; sister in law Rhonda Costa, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nancy was especially close to her aunt, whose name is also Nancy Costa. They teasingly called themselves Nancy the Elder and Nancy the Younger.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2023 at Owens Funeral Home, Champaign IL. Nancy will be laid to rest at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Allhands Cemetery in Danville, IL.
