Nancy J. Brian, 71, of Monticello, passed away at 8:21 p.m., on November 15, 2011 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Doug Winder officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with a VFW Memorial service at 7:45 p.m. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.
Nancy was born January 21, 1940, in Monticello, the daughter of Dave C. and Muriel (Stiverson) Barlow. She married Charles Ponsler on January 24, 1958. He passed away October 17, 1991. She married Loren Brian on June 11, 1994 in DeLand.
Surviving are her husband; Loren Brian of Monticello, daughter; Sarah (Marc) Phillips of Bellflower, step children; Edith (Jackie) Hall, Natha (Ed) Porter, Larry Brian, Vicki (Mike) Simmons all of Monticello, and Wanda (Harold) Hall of Champaign, 16 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many foster grandchildren, and a brother; Bill Barlow of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 granddaughters, and her aunt who raised her (Oma Redmond).
Nancy was a retired bus driver and worked at Dairy Queen. She was a member of the Lodge Church of God and was affiliated with the Monticello Church of Christ. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary #5520, Champaign and the American Legion Lincoln Post #102, DeLand. She enjoyed bowling, camping, and bingo. Along with being the family babysitter she attended all of her grandchildren and great grandchildrens school activities. Nancy was very patriotic.
