Mike Parks

Michael L Parks, age 75, of Mt. Sterling, IL passed away at 2:08 pm on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.


He was born May 30, 1947 in Beardstown, IL; the son of Daniel A. and Virginia Elizabeth Aldridge Parks and was raised by his grandparents, Russell and Mary Parks.


Michael worked for the United States Postal Service in Champaign for 33 years. He graduated from Brown County High School with the class of 1965 and then received his bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University.


Mr. Parks was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served his country in the US Army Special Forces, as a Green Beret. Mike was a member of the Hardin Lodge No. 44 A.F. and A.M., the Quincy Consistory, the VFW and the American Legion.


Survivors include a brother, Thomas Parks of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents.


Cremation rites will be accorded, per Mike's request. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted for Mike at 1pm on Saturday, Nov 19 at Hendricker Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Sterling City Cemetery.
