SPC Michael Gladney Snow, 23, of Madison, WI (formerly of Champaign) died on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Ft. Stewart, GA.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, March 19 from 4-6 pm at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St, Champaign. The funeral service will be on Friday, March 20 at 10am at the funeral home. Michael will be laid to rest at Danville National Cemetery and full military rites will be accorded.
Michael was born on April 24, 2002 in Urbana to Shantoya Sayles and Michael Gladney. He was raised by Thomas and Angela McElrath until 2015. At that time, he was then adopted by David and Kimberly Snow. Michael graduated from Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School in 2000 and enlisted in the US Army in April 2024. He was stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA in C Company, 3-15 Infantry Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kimberly Snow.
He is survived by his father, David Snow; his daughter, Dixalynn Sue Burgess; siblings, Jack Vineyard, Charman Snow, Ryan Snow, Isaiah McElrath, Sarrindia Clark (Dion), Tanitra McElrath, Alisha McElrath, Leequon Johnson, Javon Kirkham, J’yonte Alexander, Hassan Sayles, Haneef Sayles Jones, Imani Brown, Ahmillion Sayles and Justis Sayles; along with his biological parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins that will all cherish his memory.
With his infectious enthusiasm and generous heart, Michael made a profound difference in the lives of those around him. As a proud soldier, he inspired many and his generous spirit will continue to uplift those who knew him.
