Melvin H. Gulley, 79 of Cisco passed away at 9:05 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 17, 2009 at the Cisco United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Beedy officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Interment will be in Croninger Cemetery with Military graveside Rites.
Melvin was born on June 21, 1930 in Aurora the son of Sanford J. and Lucille (Parr) Gulley. He married Carol J. Franklin on May 31, 1959 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife: Carol Gulley of Cisco, son: Phillip Gulley of Auburn, CA, daughters: Annette VanDuren of Irvine, CA and Celeste Gulley of Monticello, sister; Barbara Robb of Detroit, MI, 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Melvin was a retired farmer and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Cisco United Methodist Church, Cisco Craig Reed American Legion Post #1181, and was a Willow Branch Township Trustee for 24 years.
Memorials may be made to the Cisco United Methodist Church or Carle Hospice Memorial Fund.
