Mary Kay Hannan

Mary Kay (Mickey) Hannan, 78, of Bondville passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025 at Accolade Healthcare of Savoy with her daughter by her side.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday January 7, 2026 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. Please dress comfortably.

Mickey was born on April 12, 1947 in Champaign, a daughter of William and Katherine Nickelson. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Dennis Hannan on June 25, 1967.

Mickey was first and foremost a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She helped to raise more kids than her own. She was also a loving caretaker of family during their final days. She worked along side her mother at Barsch Florist for around 30 years. She received her beautician license out of high school and did hair out of her home. When the kids became teenagers, she went to work for Caterpillar until she retired.

Mickey loved flowers, gardening, antiquing and taking the country roads. She loved her family fiercely.  Her grand babies, Addison and Savana who called her Emaw, held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, her two sisters and a brother-in-law.

Surviving is a son, Shawn Hannan of Champaign, a daughter and son in law, Angela and Jeremy Goodling of Foosland, grandchildren Addison (Kaylee) and Savana of Foosland and her first and only great grandson, Colton of Gibson City. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Darrell Struck of Broadlands, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Boudreaux, aged 25 years.

A special thank you to her nephew Reece Heath, Gail Goodling, Care Horizon, Transitions and Accolade in Savoy for all taking a part in her care and keeping her home as long as possible.
