On Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 3:50 AM, Mary Lou McPheeters (75) went to be with the Lord after battling brain cancer for 18 months. She passed on surrounded by her family.
Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Renos R. and Laura Mildred (Frederick) Rawley of Champaign. She is survived by three siblings: P.J. (Orval) Jarrett and Richard (Ruth) Rawley both of Urbana and Karen (Gene) Rankin of Gibson City. Mary Lou Rawley graduated in 1951 from Centennial High School. Mary Lou married Samuel McPheeters on December 21, 1952. They have four children: Debra (Jerald) Rexroad of Bement, Cindy (Jim) Barnes, Thomas Pete (Diana) McPheeters, and Becky (Gary) Blacker all of Monticello. She will be greatly missed by her 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, many friends and other family members.
Mary Lou worked at the Country Charm Dairy in Monticello for 24 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #101 and the VFW Post #5346. Mary Lou cleaned many homes and businesses. She worked for Twin City Bridal in Urbana for 5 years before venturing into her own catering business for 35 years. She retired in 2002.
Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello with funeral service following at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Senior Nutrition Center (Meals on Wheels), where she volunteered.
