Mary Ann Bilyeu

Mary Ann (Doty) Bilyeu, 72, of Monticello, died at 1:05 PM, July 7, 2011, at the Piatt County Nursing Home.
She was born November 14, 1938 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Mary Marjorie and Otis Lorton Doty. She married Don Bilyeu in 1976. He preceded her in death in 2005.
She leaves on brother, Fred (Eleanor) Doty of Monticello, one nephew, Steven of Monticello, a niece, Beth (Chris) Dighton of Monticello, a niece, Sarah (Scott) Ziegler of White Heath. Also remaining are her great nieces and nephews, Lindsey Huffman, Ohio, Desiree Dighton, Raleigh, N.C., Jonathan Dighton, Monticello, Jake, Cameron, and Johanna Ziegler of White Heath.
Mary Ann, following her parents footsteps, was owner of Dotys Jewelers in Monticello. She closed the store after 65 years in business at the end of 2009. She was a talented artisan, designing many custom pieces of jewelry over the years. She also developed a line of Bass Fishing jewelry, a sport she enjoyed immensely.
Her wishes were to donate her remains to the AGA Society for scientific study.
A Celebration of Life event will be held at 6:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Crossroads Church (one mile east of the Monticello Middle School). Please bring your favorite memories to share with her loved ones.
Mary Ann loved all kinds of critters so with this in mind, we suggest that anyone wishing to give a memorial in her name may donate to the future Piatt County Animal Shelter. There will be a basket at the Church for this purpose.
