Mary Barker Obituary

Mary A. (Curry) Barker, age 89, of Monticello, Ill., passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2006, at the Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello, Ill. .

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 13, 2006, at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Dalrymple officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be in the Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home.

Mary was born August 8, 1917 in Mansfield, IL. the daughter of Bert and Bertha (Brown) Wolf. She married Willard Curry on April 30, 1938 in Mansfield, IL. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1969. She later married J.W. (Bill) Barker on November 11, 1979. He preceded her in death on February 27, 1993.

She is survived by one sister Edna L. (Paul) Lamb of Bement, IL. 2 Children; Dean (Patsy) Curry of Monticello, IL. and Sharon (Bob) Jayne of Brownsburg, IN. 3 Stepchildren; Len (Julie) Barker of Breckville, OH., Barbara (Tom) Jones and Marsha (Bill) DeWitt both of Ventura, CA.

4 Grandchildren; Kim (Tom) Billman of Philo, IL, Tim (Lin) Curry of Lockport, IL., Jennifer (Scott) Metzler of Greenfield, IN., and Mindy Jayne of Pearl River, N.Y. 6 step-grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren, and 1 step great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 1 baby brother, and 1 step grandchild.

Mary worked with her first husband on the farm during their years together and then worked for the Peoples State Bank of Mansfield until her retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello.

The family would like to give our heartfelt thanks and love to all her and our friends at the Piatt County Nursing Home for all they did for our sister and mother during her 7 plus years there.
