Mark Swarts Obituary
Mark Swarts, 55, of Monticello, passed away 6:02 AM, Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. with his loving family by his side. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at the Bible Baptist Church at 4001 W. Kirby Ave. Champaign, Illinois with Pastor Rick Bloom officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, May 17, 2010 5:00-8:00PM at the Mackey-Wright Funeral home 215 E. Washington Street Monticello, Illinois. Interment will be in Croninger Cemetery, Cisco. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mark, the son of David and Patricia (Bennett) Swarts, was born November 28, 1954 in Bloomington, Illinois. He married Patty (Kisters) on May 28, 1987 in Urbana, Illinois. He is survived by daughters; Shannan Fletcher (Daniel) of Urbana, Erin Boland of Monticello, and sons; Nathan Swarts of Monticello, Chris Swarts of Cisco; and grandson and his little buddy, Wyatt Kenyon of Urbana. Mark is also survived by his mother, Patricia Swarts of Cisco, sisters; Brenda Abbott (Bryan) of Ivesdale, Tamara Swarts of Clinton and Teresa Wiley (Bobby) of Cynthiana, KY. He was preceded in the death of his father David Swarts, and sister Pamela Sue Swarts.
Mark was in the car business for 30 years, with the last 14 years serving as Sales Manager at Rick Ridings Ford/Mercury in Monticello. He was one of the driving forces to open sponsorship for the Monticello athletic boosters, which he was a member for 9 years, and organized the Homecoming tailgates, coming up on 15 years. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Cisco, Ford Motor Company and Adesa Dealer Council, and he served on the Monticello Chamber board. Mark was an avid sports enthusiast, with basketball being his favorite sport and enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs. He loved spending time with his family, trips to the Florida Keys and enjoyed all types of fishing, fresh and salt water. Memorials may be made to donors choice.
