Mabel E. Koss, 96, of Monticello, passed away at 6:30 AM, on March 6, 2011 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Dalene Kuebler officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
Mabel was born November 27, 1914 in Lovington the daughter of Charles E. and Minnie (Mahoney) Wood. She married Chris Koss on May 14, 1933 in Monticello; they were married for 77 years.
Surviving are her husband; Chris Koss of Monticello, daughters; Joyce Dunlap and Carolyn (Jerry) Golias both of Monticello, son; Chris (Helen) Koss, Jr. of Cisco, 11 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Mabel was a retired seamstress from Regal Cap and Gown and also worked as a baker at the bakery. She was a member of the White Heath United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 50 years, the Piatt County Home Extension, and the White Heath Community Club. She enjoyed crafts, clothing, baking, and her family.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, 4 sisters, 1 grandson, and 1 great granddaughter.
The family would like to especially thank the Piatt County Nursing Home, Decatur Memorial Hospice, and Maple Point for all their loving kindness.
