Louis Kallembach, Jr. Obituary
Louis E. Kallembach, Jr., 81, of Monticello, passed away at 8:00 PM, Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Whitaker officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Goose Creek Township Cemetery, DeLand.
Louis was born June 6, 1929 in Farmer City, the son of Lewis E. and Nanny (White) Kallembach, Sr. His mother passed away when he was 6 months old and he was also raised by his step-mother, Monzella Vaughn Kallembach. He married Frances Reeves on June 4, 1955 in Weldon.
Louis is survived by his wife; Frances Kallembach of Monticello, daughter; Lynne Armstrong (Terry March) and granddaughter Darrian March of Monticello, son; Larry Kallembach (Trish) of Chicago and step-grandchildren Pam Huffman of St. Joe, Lynn Harvey of Park Ridge, and Joe Harvey of Washington, IA , and son; Don Kallembach (Elizabeth) and granddaughter Ivy of St. Louis, MO., 5 step-great grandchildren, brothers; Rex Kallembach of Monticello and Gene Vaughn of Mansfield, sisters; Barbara Twist of Clinton and Helen Richardson of Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents, son (Darren who passed away in 1972), 5 brothers (Bill and Robert Kallembach, Melvin, Loren, and John Vaughn), and 3 sisters (Betty J. Kallembach, Dorothy Grim, and Mary Westmoreland).
Louis was the owner and butcher of the DeLand Locker and the head cook at the DeLand-Weldon School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the DeLand American Legion Post, the DeLand Methodist Church, the Monticello United Methodist Church, original member of the Piatt County Nursing Home Board, and was the Republican Precinct Chairman. He enjoyed baking, antiques, singing, being an artist (both painting and stained glass), and loved his pets and grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Monticello United Methodist Church Building Fund, the Piatt County Nursing Home, or the Chaddock Childrens Foundation 205 South 24th St. Quincy, IL 62301.
