Lorena McClain

Lorena Lenora McClain, 92, of Mahomet, IL, passed from this life at 4:30 am. on Friday May 5th at Heritage Health in Gibson City, IL. 

The visitation will be 10:00-11:00am on Thursday May 11th at the Mahomet United Methodist Church, with the funeral service at 11:00. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Mahomet.  Pastor Lori Harvey will officiate and friends are welcome to join the family at the church for a luncheon after the burial.  

Lorena was born to Lawrence and Ella Peters in Urbana,IL on March 11th 1931. She married Jack C.Mcclain on August 16th 1950. They were married 70 years.

Lorena graduated from Urbana High school and was a secretary at the Institute of Government at the University of Illinois before retiring in 1994.

She was a member of the Mahomet United Methodist Church, and was active member of the United Women of Faith @ the church. She loved to sew and make quilts. She made sure her children and grandchildren all received one made by her. After retiring from the U of I her and Jack spent summers in Minnesota at their home there and she and Jack also spent time in Orange Beach, AL in the winter months.

Survivors include their daughter Melody Maxwell of Mahomet,IL, Mark (Linda) McClain, Normal, IL, and Melinda (Tony)Hughes of Findlay, OH.  Grandchildren Jeff Frederick of Mahomet,IL, Matt (Allyson) McClain, Fishers,IN, Michael (Lindsey) McClain Wylie,TX, Melissa (Dan) Bisbee of Lone Tree,CO and Jessica Hughes of Findlay, OH.  She also had 5 great grandchildren and was preceded in death by her parents and 7 siblings.

Memorials can be made to United Women of Faith @ Mahomet United Methodist Church.
