Linden Combes Obituary
Linden Combes, age 89, of Monticello, passed away at 2:40 PM, Monday, April 7, 2008 at his residence.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Monticello Township Cemetery with Rev. Tim Bauler officiating. No visitation. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Linden was born April 26, 1918 in Monticello the son of Harry J. and Hester Nina (Milligan) Combes. He married Dorothy Jane Butler on July 3, 1946 in Monticello. She passed away on April 25, 1992.
He is survived by sons: David Combes and Ted Combes both of Monticello, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded by his parents, wife, and one brother.
Linden was a former Pool Hall owner along with being a Drive-Up Bank Manager and Teller. He served with the U.S. Air Corp during WW II. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello, lifetime member of the Hamm-Burke American Legion Post #101 of Monticello, and the Monticello Golf Club. He enjoyed his family, golfing, and fishing and was a great Illinois sports fan.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Piatt County Nursing Home or the First Presbyterian Church of Monticello.
