Linda Jean Ferrell, 81, of Urbana, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024. She was born on September 15, 1943, in Urbana, IL, and was a lifelong resident of Urbana. Linda graduated from Urbana High School, and always looked forward to reconnecting with friends at her class of 1961 high school reunions. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career at Busey Bank, where she worked for 47 years, all the way from teller to Vice President of Commercial Accounts before her retirement.
Linda loved to travel, with Smoky Mountain National Park and Lake of the Ozarks among her favorite destinations. She had an eye for fashion and always brought elegance wherever she went. Linda also had a deep faith rooted in her time at Webber Street Church of Christ as a child and First Christian Church as an adult. Her final years were spent worshiping alongside her C-U Church family. Above all, Linda was known for being grounded, with a quiet strength and deep devotion to her family, who were the center of her world.
Linda’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, strength, and dedication.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Shumaker, and mother Jean (Bibler) Shumaker. She is survived by her husband, (Harvey) Dan Ferrell, of Urbana, IL, as well as her daughter Elizabeth (Carl) Anderson of Seattle, WA. She was a proud grandmother to Catelyn Jean and Julia Melodie, and a best friend to her loving sister Kathy Mae (James) Brown of Champlin, MN. She will be missed by a number of friends, acquaintances and surviving family members, including beloved great-nieces Eleanor, Parker and Lily.
She was laid to rest on December 2, 2024 at a private memorial service at Eastlawn Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to C-U Church.
