Linda S. Carroll

With great sorrow we announce the passing of our sister Linda S. Carroll on October 31, 2022.

She is survived by her brother: William E. Carroll of Colorado; and sister: E. Patricia Carroll of Urbana.

Born in Rockford, Illinois, the family moved to Champaign in 1963 where she graduated from Central High School in 1969. She worked in town for a few years before going to Parkland College and becoming a Certified Operating Room Tech. She began working at Burnham City Hospital and then at Carle Hospital until her retirement in 2016. Wanting to further her education, she went to the U of I while working and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Linda loved to read and introduced us to some of our most favorite authors. We traded books like a lending library. She also liked to write and was in the process of editing a book that our brother has written. A creative soul, she also knitted and painted with our mother and her sister. For a few years, Linda and Mom had a home business in cake decorating for weddings and special occasions. They both liked to travel and made trips to Colorado and Rockford to visit family and was the emotional center of us all. She loved movies, Krannert, gardening, and was a great animal lover. Her tender heart had room for us and her dogs too.

Linda was generous and loyal and encouraged us to spread our wings with new endeavors. Without her as our cheerleader, my brother and I would not have accomplished everything we have today.

We loved her dearly and will miss her every day for always. She was our sister and friend.

As per her wishes, her ashes will be taken back to Rockford to be buried next to our mother Lucinda B. Carroll at Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.
