Leonard L. Fogerson passed away on July 27th at 9:20 a.m. after a long illness. A private family visitation will be held at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello on July 29th immediately followed by a graveside service at the Bement Township Cemetery. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements in accordance with the wishes of the deceased and his family.
Leonard was born in Bement, the son of Ray and Thelma (Spellbring) Fogerson on December 8, 1932. He married Maxine Brown of Monticello on November 23, 1955. They were married 56 years having had four children; Terry and loving daughter-in-law Linda of White Heath, Tim and loving daughter-in-law Donna of Champaign, Mike of Champaign, and beloved daughter Peggy Klausner of Mahomet, also four grandsons, three granddaughters, and one very special great-grandson.
Leonard is survived by his brothers Ken and companion Karen of Decatur, Dean and wife June of Oreana, and Darrell and his wife Margaret of Monticello. Three sisters also survive; Wilma Eads of Oreana, Phyllis Tipsword of Villa Grove, and Dianne Pierce (Chuck) of Bement. Also surviving are sister-in-laws Lois Fogerson of Bement and Shirley Fogerson of Decatur. Three brothers preceded him in death, Tom, Bob, and Don, and one sister Kay Kopp. Leonard leaves behind many much loved nieces and nephews.
After attending Bement schools he went into the Army Stationed in Alaska during the Korean Conflict. When he returned home, he worked in construction for a few years and at General Cable for thirteen years. He became manager of Monticello Grain Company in Seymour under Merle Chapman for 23 years, retiring in 1994.
Leonard loved all sports but especially enjoyed being with his family and their activities.
