Lenore Valentine Obituary

Averil Lenore Anita Annie Dyson Valentine, 87, of White Heath, passed away at home in the presence of her loving family on Sunday evening, August 8, 2010.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Dalene Kuebler officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday August 11, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery
Lenore Annie was born June 19, 1923 in Mansfield, the daughter of David and Marion Mable (Leming) Dyson. She married Dean Bill Valentine on February 6, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. He passed away January 1, 1990.
Survivors include her children; L. Dean (Sharon Brady) Valentine of Champaign, Anita Headley of Naples, FL, Ken (Teri Johnson) Valentine of Grapevine, TX, Sue (Gene) Rodgers of White Heath, and Linda (Bob) Alexander of White Heath, 30 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own children. Waiting for her in heaven her husband Dean H. Bill Valentine, two grandsons (Jim Valentine and Tim Valentine), son-in-law (Floyd Headley), 2 brothers, 4 sisters, parents, and parents-in-law.
Lenore Annie retired in 1990, after 22 years, as chief clerk from the University of Illinois Admissions and Records. She was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church for 67 years. Lenore Annie loved her family, friends, dogs (Casey, Cassie, and Babe), George Strait, reading, fresh flowers, eating out, singing, listening to country music, watching Rachel Ray on TV, and watching the birds out her patio door. She and her sister (Pearl Harper) sang in local churches, on local radio, and at many weddings. She met her husband at a church social when singing with her sister (Pearl Dyson Harper) at the Centerville Church.
Memorials may be made to the Centerville United Methodist Church, Faith In Action, Monticello, or the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.
