Kathy Prouty

Kathy Prouty, 71, of Mahomet, formerly of Kankakee, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital with her family by her side.  She was born on October 23, 1953 in Pawnee, OK, a daughter of Elwood and Gloria (Packer) Crawford.  She enjoyed yoga, playing cards, crossword puzzles, watching deer through her kitchen window and tending to her many flowers.

Kathy's family moved to from Maramec, OK to Dodge City, KS and then Kankakee, where she graduated from Westview High School.  In Kankakee, she worked at Thrift-T- Mart on Court St., where she met her Husband, Jim.  They got married on October 10, 1975 and moved to Champaign, where she earned an Accounting Degree and worked for the University of Illinois.  They joyfully adopted Lucas Crawford in 1997.  

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother Michael 'Kim' Crawford; two brothers, Stephen and Jeffrey Crawford and one sister, Debbie Zink.

Survivors include; her husband, Jim Prouty of Mahomet; two brothers, David (Sally) Crawford of Salem, OR and James Crawford of Champaign; one sister, Jo Ann (Alfred) Weedon of Chebanse.

Kathy's family would like to thank the nurses, healthcare technicians and doctors at Carle Foundation Hospital, as well as her niece, Kelly, for their support during this difficult time.
