Justin Michael Shaw was born Aug. 21, 1998, in Franklin, Pa., and earned his angel wings on Friday (April 20, 2018) in Urbana. He was 19 years old and full of life.
Justin had a strong love for all of his family and friends. He leaves behind his parents, Michelle (Mike) Nelson of Paxton and Terry (Kimberly) Shaw of Champaign; brother and roommate, Mathew Shaw; sister, Faith Miller; maternal grandfather, Jerry Miller; uncle, Derek Miller and aunt, Lori Kirby; along with many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Diana Miller, and paternal grandfather, Terry Shaw Sr.
Justin attended Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School and achieved his GED in 2016. For the last year and a half he had been working at SuperValu, and it was well known that he was the best 'picker' there. He worked hard and was saving money for big plans that he had for the future, such as a trip to Australia. He loved heavy metal music, his computer and video games. He also had a gift for woodworking and had been creating projects to feed his exploratory nature since he was a young boy. Justin was fearless and never backed down from a challenge, no matter how crazy it seemed. He was also a clown and loved to make people around him laugh. Justin was adored by so many and his beautiful smile will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a visitation Wednesday, April 25, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. The memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Steve Brady officiating. Burial will be private.
Memorials may be made to the family or to the Down's Syndrome Network of Champaign, 1304 W. Bradley Ave., Champaign, IL 61821.
