Judith E. Brooks, age 83, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025 in Glen Ellyn, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Albert C. Brooks. Judith, known to friends and family as Judy, thoroughly enjoyed her home in Mahomet, IL where she was a longtime resident.
There will be a visitation on Monday, June 2, from 9:30-11 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 501 W. State St, Mahomet. The funeral service will begin at 11 in the church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Boniface Cemetery, Seymour.
Born May 16, 1942, Judy was the oldest of four children, Jim, Tom and Jorie, of Leo and Jeanette Rose. The family resided in Norridge, IL where Judy attended Catholic schools. She went to college where she earned a degree in nursing. After graduating she worked as an RN in surgery. Judy took great pride in being a nurse. When she stepped away from nursing it was to pursue the role of managing the apartments she and her husband built on the campus of University of Illinois.
Judy was the proud mother of three children, Allen (Lisa), Michelle Seliskar (Matt) and Bryan. And the grandmother to Marisa Campbell (Bradley), Michael and Luke; Joe, Jack and Emma Seliskar; Marlo Brooks; great grandmother to Daniel and Chloe Campbell.
Judy was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church for many years. She once traveled to the Vatican and had the “once in a lifetime experience” of meeting Pope John Paul II. That special moment was captured in a photograph for which she loved to share with everyone she met.
As someone who had a creative side, Judy explored the arts with creating beautiful paintings and art work. Over the years she loved spending time traveling and visiting with family and friends. Not someone who could sit still, Judy liked to have a good time and be adventurous. Whether she was hitting the slopes in Colorado with her husband and children, going on a cruise with friends, or to the beach in North Carolina, dancing and laughing, Judy enjoyed life.
