Judith Ann (Warren) Uebelhoer, 82 of Mahomet, passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana on May 17, 2024 surrounded by love from her husband, brother, three children, and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Mahomet United Methodist Church on Thursday May 23 from 5-7 pm. Her funeral will be Friday May 24 at 11 am with graveside service to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Mahomet.
Judith was born on March 3, 1942 in Bloomington, Illinois. She was the firstborn child to Lott and Callie (Bateman) Warren of Farmer City. She graduated from Moore High School, Farmer City, in 1960. After high school she attended Illinois State University for a year before working for Illinois Power, followed by employment at Personnel Services for the University of Illinois. She met her husband Darrell at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Champaign Illinois during the summer of 1968. They married on March 29, 1969 in Farmer City. They were married for 55 wonderful years.
Judith leaves behind her husband Darrell, her three children Brian (Stacy) Uebelhoer; Michael (Stephanie) Uebelhoer; Kimberly (Darren) Holt, all residing near her in Mahomet. She also leaves behind the love of six grandchildren: Colson of Champaign and Owen, Jordan, Lauryn, Kayleigh and Bryce all of Mahomet. She also leaves behind a brother Jim (Deb) Warren, sister-in-law Janene Shumard, along with two nieces, Jan and RaeAnne; nephews Larry and Matthew and multiple great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both her parents and brother-in-law Jim Shumard.
After their marriage in 1969, Judith continued her work at Personnel Services before she worked for Burnham Hospital and the Early Learning Childhood Center both in Champaign. She spent a majority of her career working back again at the University of Illinois, this time at the Child Development Lab. During this period she also went back to school and earned her Bachelors Degree from Eastern Illinois University in 1992, followed quickly by her Masters in Education Degree also from EIU in 1998. She did this all while working and taking care of three children. Eventually, she retired from the Child Development Lab in June 2005 after spending her career doing what she loved most: teaching children. Upon retirement she took on a new role, spoiling her grandchildren by spending as much time with them as possible. Prior to the pandemic she was an active member in her church playing in the bell choir and often helping with VBS. Judith’s favorite season was summer where you could find her in a swimsuit planting trees and flowers. One thing is certain, no matter the season you could find her in shorts, sitting on her deck reading a good book, or inside on the floor watching her favorite shows like Wheel of Fortune. The rest of the time she spent bringing joy to those she loved the most in this world. May she rest in peace finally enjoying the memories dementia took from her here on Earth.
