Judith A. Siess, age 78, passed away at 12:07am, Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Accolade Healthcare of Savoy.
Judy was born on September 28, 1947, in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Chester P, and Helen (Kranson) Siess, both deceased. She was married to Stephen P. Bremseth for 42 years. They had no children.
She graduated from Champaign High School in 1965.She received a B.A. (with honors) in Anthropology and Spanish from Beloit College, Beloit, Wisconsin in 1969. She received her M.A. in Anthropology from Eastern New Mexico University, Portales in 1973, and a M.S., Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1982.
Judy worked in libraries in academia, government, and corporations for 16 years. She was a member of the Special Libraries Association for 44 years (joined 1980), first chair of the Solo Librarian's Division. She was an editor and publisher of The One-Person Library: A Newsletter for Librarians and Management from 1998-2009. Judith was a public speaker, teacher, and author of 7 books.
She loved to travel, especially with her husband. In 2007, she fulfilled a childhood goal of visiting all 50 US states. Judith loved cats, reading, and surfing the Internet--often all three at the same time. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Carle Auxiliary, and the Sinai Temple.
