Joyce Ackeret, 78, of Monticello, passed away at 5:35 PM, September 16, 2010 at Carle Hospital, Urbana.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday September 21, 2010 at the Monticello Township Cemetery with Rev. John Francis officiating. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Joyce was born July 6, 1932 in Monticello, the daughter of Bernard L. and Ruth (Peterson) Dunlap. She married Billy D. Hixson and later married Walter A. Ackeret on November 5, 1990 in Clinton.
Survivors include her brothers; Gene Dunlap and Thomas Dunlap both of Monticello, stepchildren; James Ackeret of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Steven Ackeret of Wilmington, Delaware, and Beverly Trimble of Chicago, 3 step-grandchildren and 1 step-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Walter Ackeret), and 1 stepson (Edward Ackeret).
Joyce was a retired beautician and was a member of the Nazarene Church of Monticello.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Nazarene Church of Monticello or the American Cancer Society.
