Josephine Long Obituary
Josephine Caroline Jo Long, age 81, of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at the Piatt County Nursing Home in Monticello.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 P.M., Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Dalrymple officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 2:30 PM Friday. Interment will be held in the Monticello Township Cemetery.
Mrs. Long was born September 25, 1925 in Kane, IL, the daughter of Carroll Prince and Bertha Ann (Cone) Ladd. She married Arthur Lee Long on November 15, 1942 in Kane, IL. They were married for 51 years before he passed away Aug. 16, 1994.
Surviving are her sons: Robert Long of St. Anne, and Steve Long of White Heath, 4 Grandchildren and 6 Great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son (Ron), 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Mrs. Long was raised by her grandmother, Hattie Cone, due to her mothers passing at childbirth. Mrs. Long sold Electrolux vacuums with her husband for 20 years, managed the Monticello Golf Course from 1957-1972, was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello for 50 years. Her hobbies included gardening, playing cards with girlfriend groups, playing golf, baking and visiting with family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home or Carle Hospice.
