Joseph Haugen Obituary

Joseph M. Haugen, 44, of Monticello, passed away at 1:58 PM, Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Carle Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Monticello with Rev. Allan Oman officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Joe was born July 18, 1965 in Des Moines, IA the son of Elvin and Esther (Schumaker) Haugen. He married Benjie K. Lietz on January 3, 1998 in Monticello.
Surviving is his wife; Benjie Haugen of Monticello, children; Ellie, Mary Grace, Anna, and Sam Haugen, mother; Esther Haugen of Rake, IA, brother; Bill Haugen of Washington, and sister; Jeri Jo Olson of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father.
Joe worked as a salesman/agronomist for United Prairie LLC and was a farmer. He was a member and President of the congregation at the Christ Lutheran Church in Monticello and was also a volunteer fireman in Ivesdale. His children were a very important part of his life and he was happiest when he was spending time with them. Joe loved attending his childrens music programs and sporting events. He was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa State Cyclones. Joes willingness to give will also benefit many others through the Gift of Hope organ donation program.
